KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 29 (Bernama) -- As Malaysia prepares to assume the ASEAN chairmanship in 2025, the Malaysian Embassy in Germany has hosted a series of events to showcase the country’s vision for a dynamic and resilient regional bloc.

To mark the commencement of this journey, the embassy organised several initiatives, including the 57th ASEAN Day celebration (Oct 28), the ASEAN Chairmanship Networking Luncheon (Nov 14), and the Ladies’ Breakfast Meeting (21 November). These events were designed to strengthen partnerships and foster dialogue among ASEAN member states and international partners.

In addition, Malaysian ambassador to Germany Datin Paduka Dr Adina Kamarudin also highlighted Malaysia's ASEAN Chairmanship in her speech at the ASEAN Networking Dinner, the Trade Fair for Medical Technology and Healthcare (MEDICA) in Düsseldorf (Nov 11 to 12), and the Asia Pacific Reception Dinner for Asia Pacific Ambassadors and Asia Pacific Committees (APA) Member Companies in Berlin (Nov 20).

In a statement, Embassy of Malaysia in Germany said these events provided a platform to highlight Malaysia’s dedication to enhancing ASEAN's agenda of inclusivity, cooperation, and sustainable development.

“As Chair of ASEAN 2025, Malaysia is committed to ensuring that ASEAN continues to be the cornerstone of regional stability and a beacon of global cooperation. We look forward to an inclusive and impactful year for the future of ASEAN,” the statement read.

The Embassy extends its gratitude to all participants and partners who contributed to the success of these events.

“The events were attended by distinguished guests, including Ambassadors, German senior government officials, German business community, think-tank, academia and civil society. This demonstrated the international community’s support for Malaysia's pivotal role in ASEAN,” the statement read.

Reflecting on the success of the initiatives, Datin Paduka Dr Adina emphasised Malaysia’s commitment to regional unity.

“Malaysia’s Chairmanship of ASEAN is not only a testament to our country’s enduring commitment to regional unity but also a call to action for all member states to contribute to a dynamic and prosperous ASEAN community.

“Many states in Germany are now coming forward to engage on ASEAN, notably the state of North Rhine- Westphalia,” she said.

The events also emphasised Malaysia’s commitment to promoting ASEAN’s values of inclusivity and sustainability while ensuring its Chairmanship aligns with the organisation’s goals of fostering economic, political, and socio-cultural growth, she added.
