ASEAN Viewed As Region With Huge Potential For Entrepreneurs - AYEC
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 22 (Bernama) -- The world views ASEAN as a region with huge potential, especially for entrpreneurs who are receiving strong support from both the public and private sectors.
ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs Council (AYEC) chairman Deborah Melissa Bottreau said the existence of a good support ecosystem made ASEAN a main choice for young entrepreneurs to expand their businesses compared to Europe where there is a shortage of opportunities.
“In Europe, many countries pressure the young generation to work in traditional sectors and requires high academic qualifications. Instead in ASEAN, there is a lot of support and opportunities for young entrepreneurs to expand without being burdened by bureaucracy,@ she said as a guest on Bernama TV’s Ruang Bicara: “Usahawan Muda Aset Pemacu Ekonomi ASEAN” tonight.
She added that it was vital for young ASEAN entrepreneurs to take the opportunity to reap the many chances, including signing up for the ASEAN Entrepreneur Carnival, a platform gathering participants from the region and international partners to explore new potential in commerce and investment.
Meanwhile, local entrepreneur Chew Jon Kin, who also signed up for the carnival, said that it enabled entrepreneurs like him to share and match their businesses with potential investors and to garner support to bring their businesses to the next level.
The two-day carnival, with the theme “Connecting ASEAN, Creating Global Change”, was jointly organised by AYEC, the Malaysian Association of Young Entrepreneurs (MAYA) and the Malaysian Youth Council, and reflects the collective aspirations to build a borderless ecosystem to empower young entrepreneurs throughout Southeast Asia.
