Civil Servants Key To Smooth ASEAN Summit - KPPA
PUTRAJAYA, Oct 23 (Bernama) -- The success of the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits does not rest solely on the government’s leadership but also on the dedication of civil servants, particularly the security forces and supporting agencies.
Public Service Department director-general (KPPA) Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz said it is the responsibility of the entire public service to work together to ensure the smooth running of the summit, which will be held in the capital.
“Malaysia’s success as ASEAN Chair in 2025 does not depend only on political leadership, but is also shared by all civil servants who form the backbone of policy implementation, logistics coordination, and protocol management throughout the chairmanship period.
Wan Ahmad Dahlan said this to reporters after attending the Bicara Aspirasi H.E.M.A.T programme organised by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) here today.
The 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits are scheduled to take place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from Oct 26 to 28.
More than 30 heads of state and government are expected to gather in the Malaysian capital to discuss a range of issues on regional peace, economic resilience, and inclusive growth under Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship 2025, themed ‘Inclusivity and Sustainability’.
Wan Ahmad Dahlan said the strong spirit of teamwork and professionalism displayed by civil servants at all levels demonstrates that the nation’s administrative machinery is ready to shoulder this major responsibility with commitment and discipline.
He said that preparations have been meticulously coordinated by various government agencies, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), and other ministries and departments that play key roles in ensuring the smooth execution of the high-profile event.
“We are fully prepared to welcome our guests. Preparations by the Foreign Ministry, PDRM, and other involved agencies are at their highest level. Insya-Allah, everything will proceed smoothly,” he said.
Malaysia’s role as ASEAN Chair in 2025 carries the aspiration to strengthen regional unity, advance peace and inclusive prosperity, and showcase the country’s capacity as a diplomatic hub and economic growth centre in Southeast Asia, he added.
