Australian PM Albanese Arrives In Malaysia For East Asia Summit

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese arrives in Malaysia this afternoon to participate in the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits, which officially begin this morning at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).

SUBANG, Oct 26 (Bernama) -- Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese arrived in Malaysia today to attend the 20th East Asia Summit (EAS), which is scheduled to officially commence tomorrow, as part of 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits.

The special aircraft carrying Albanese and his delegation landed at the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) Base here at 3 pm and was received by National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang.

The Australian Prime Minister later inspected a guard of honour mounted by two officers and 26 personnel from the First Battalion of the Royal Ranger Regiment (Ceremonial), led by Capt Muhammad Nafis Norshid.

During his visit, Albanese is also scheduled to attend the 5th Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Summit on Monday and the 5th ASEAN-Australia Summit on Tuesday.

Malaysia, as ASEAN Chair 2025, is hosting more than 30 world leaders, including those from ASEAN member states as well as the United States, China, Japan, South Korea, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, to deepen engagement and cooperation while addressing regional and global challenges of mutual concern.

Leaders and representatives from international bodies such as the United Nations, International Monetary Fund, World Bank and the International Federation of Association Football are also attending the high-level meetings.
