Myanmar has released 78 Filipinos who were detained for immigration-related offences after being trafficked for employment in scam hubs in the country.

 

2. MARCOS ANNOUNCES HUGE ROLLBACK IN DIESEL, GASOLINE PRICES NEXT WEEK -- PHILIPPINE NEWS AGENCY

 Motorists can expect respite in the coming days, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. said on Saturday, as he announced a huge price rollback of PHP24.94 per litre for diesel, PHP3.41 for gasoline, and PHP2 for kerosene next week.

Issues of inaccurate bus timings and long wait times being displayed at bus stops and on transport apps on Saturday were due to damaged fibre network cables that disrupted telco services, said the Land Transport Authority (LTA).

USTR is pressing Thailand to ease barriers in vehicles, pharmaceuticals, medical devices and farm imports as both sides work to finalise a reciprocal trade deal.

Ho Chi Minh City has become the first locality in Vietnam to roll out a digital data development strategy for the 2026–30 period. Funds worth US$500 million have been allocated this year to fuel digital evolution.

 

2. JOINING GLOBAL FIGHT AGAINST CYBERCRIME -- VIETNAMPLUS

Vietnam ratified the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime, also known as the Hanoi Convention, on April 17. It is the first Southeast Asian nation and the third country globally to ratify the convention.
