Empowering Regional Youth Through Digital Education And Cultural Exchange: China-ASEAN Initiative Holds Successful Malaysia Session
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 3 (Bernama) -- Education leaders, technological innovators, and youth representatives from Malaysia and China gathered at multiple venues in Malaysia from Aug 26 to 28 for the 2026 China-ASEAN Youth Language and Culture Exchange Event.
Co-hosted by the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), China Traffic Radio（CTR) of China Media Group (CMG, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) and a range of partner institutions from China and Malaysia, the three-day programme highlighted mutual trust, educational digitalisation, and sustainable cross-cultural collaboration.
Held as an extended session of the 18th China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week, the initiative sought to transform regional youth interaction from traditional displays into active, collaborative partnerships. By blending language learning with interactive digital solutions, participants explored how educational technologies can bridge language barriers while supporting local learning needs.
Collaborative Innovation in Digital Education
A central feature of the event was the integration of modern educational tools designed to enhance multilingual learning experiences. At a forum held at UPSI in Tanjong Malim, Perak, academic experts and students engaged in discussions focusing on the future of language arts and artificial intelligence in education.
Addressing shifts in global education, experts emphasised that the goal of digital transformation was not to replace traditional teaching, but to provide personalised support for students and empower educators. Rather than focusing on rote memorisation, modern AI-assisted tools help non-native speakers by providing real-time, interactive feedback on pronunciation, fluency, and tone, making language practice more engaging and accessible.
Participating experts also underscored that mutual technology transfer and talent development were essential to long-term cooperation. "Fostering AI talent and advancing technological empowerment across both nations are of paramount importance," noted one of the participating experts.
"Technology transfer aligns closely with local development needs. By combining technological expertise from China with local Malaysian implementation, both sides achieve true reciprocity, two-way connectivity, and shared growth."
Supporting Local Heritage and Multilingual Classrooms
Demonstrating this spirit of mutual support, the delegation visited Kuala Lumpur’s historic Confucian Private Secondary School. Established in 1906, CPSS stands as one of Malaysia’s oldest Chinese independent secondary schools, known for its commitment to trilingual education in Chinese, Malay, and English.
During the visit, representatives donated interactive language-learning equipment powered by specialised language-arts models to the school’s digital learning facility. Students and teachers tested the smart reading booths and interactive voice installations, experiencing first-hand how real-time phonetic analysis can assist learners in mastering language nuances.
A Celebration of Shared Heritage and Youth Friendship
Beyond academic and technological exchanges, the event served as a vibrant showcase of regional cultural diversity. During the three-day event, students from both nations delivered joint music, dance, and language performances.
Dressed in traditional attire reflecting the rich heritage of both China and Malaysia’s diverse ethnic groups, youth performers demonstrated how language and art transcend geographical boundaries. The interactive showcases fostered genuine camaraderie, allowing participants to build lasting personal connections.
By focusing on shared growth, mutual respect, and collaborative innovation, the 2026 event underscored a collective commitment to nurturing the next generation of global citizens, equipping them with both technological fluency and a deep cross-cultural understanding.
