Construction of an expressway linking Lao and Vietnamese capitals is on track after the government awarded compensation to residents affected by the project. Those affected by the 203.8-km Pakxan–Thanh Thuy section will receive compensation.

China and South Korea donated about 1,300 metric tonnes of rice under the ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve Tier 3 Programme to the Ayeyarwady Region government to assist those affected by the recent floods.
