KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 (Bernama) -- Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung has emphasised the need to strengthen cooperation among ASEAN law enforcement agencies to tackle transnational crime and ensure fugitives do not escape justice.

He made the call during a courtesy visit by heads of ASEAN delegations and the ASEAN Secretariat at the Government Headquarters in Hanoi yesterday.

The Malaysian delegation was led by Home Ministry (KDN) deputy secretary-general (Security) Datuk Abdul Halim Abdul Rahman.

According to a KDN Facebook post today, Le said the success of the ASEAN Law Enforcement High-Level Conference on Cooperation in Combating Fugitive Criminals would contribute to the peace, security and resilience of the region.

The post added that the Malaysian delegation later attended a gala dinner hosted by Vietnam's Ministry of Public Security to mark the official closing of the conference. Vietnam's Minister of Public Security, General Luong Tam Quang, delivered a speech at the event.

KDN said Malaysia's participation in the conference reflects its ongoing commitment to forging closer ties and cooperation with ASEAN partners to combat transnational crime.
