PM Anwar Attends ASEAN Friendship Concert 2025
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 18 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim tonight attended the ASEAN Friendship Concert 2025, held in a lively atmosphere at the Seri Angkasa Auditorium, Angkasapuri Kota Media, here.
The Prime Minister arrived at about 8 pm and was welcomed by Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, Foreign Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Amran Mohamed Zin, Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa and Malaysian Broadcasting Department director-general Datuk Suhaimi Sulaiman.
Also present were heads of foreign missions in Malaysia, including those from ASEAN member countries.
Organised by the Communications Ministry through Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) in collaboration with the Foreign Ministry, the concert was held in conjunction with Malaysia’s chairmanship of the 47th ASEAN Summit, to be hosted in the capital at the end of this month.
The 90-minute concert, broadcast live on RTM TV2 and partner platforms under the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), featured renowned artistes from 10 ASEAN countries and Timor-Leste, accompanied by the RTM Orchestra (ORTM) comprising 44 professional musicians.
Carrying the theme “Melodies of Unity, Rhythms of Friendship,” the concert opened with an enchanting performance by Malaysian artiste Aisha Retno, who sang Getaran Jiwa and Samudera, followed by performances from artistes representing other ASEAN nations.
Among them were Cidalia (Timor-Leste) with Hein; Pach Kimmouy (Cambodia) with How Do You Do; Valentina Ploy (Thailand) with Cheers to Life; Dila Junaidi (Brunei) with Anugerah Terindah; and Adriane Roy Calangian (the Philippines) with Madaling Araw.
The atmosphere grew livelier with a performance by Aina Abdul, who sang Jangan Mati Rasa Itu, followed by a group rendition of The Land We Love and Hael Husaini’s Medley Hajat/Raikan Cinta.
In addition to musical performances, the concert also showcased traditional dances and a special ASEAN Friendship Concert 2025 themed dance, highlighting the beauty of Southeast Asia’s cultural heritage and the spirit of inclusivity among member nations.
Hosted by Shahrizan Borhan (Malaysia) and Dian Querrer (the Philippines), the event concluded with a rendition of Our Land Our Home by Aina, symbolising the “We Are One” spirit that underscored the concert’s main message.
