KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 26 (Bernama) -- Vietnam aims to pursue rapid economic growth while striving to build a more sustainable and inclusive economy, according to Vietnam Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
He said the country focuses on fostering global integration and enhancing resilience through more sustainable and effective participation in the international economy.
“We like to start from the right mindset, as digital transformation is an objective demand, a strategic choice, and a foremost priority for Vietnam.
“We need to be consistent in both our mindset and action to set conditions as this could play a key role in aligning Vietnam’s economic connectivity,” he said at the ‘Leader Fireside Chat’ session, moderated by ASEAN BAC Member for Singapore Rachel Eng, during the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (ABIS) 2025 held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) here today.
The event was held on the sidelines of the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits taking place from today at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
Chinh said that under the leadership of Vietnam’s General Secretary of the Communist Party, To Lam, the country is striving to enhance digital competence among its people.
“Everyone (in Vietnam) needs to pursue skilling and reskilling in terms of digital transformation to reap the benefits of the process. So when it comes to our mindset and action, we will need to form a foundation because resource stems from mindset and drive transformation,” he said.
Meanwhile, Chinh urges ASEAN as a regional bloc to develop and strengthen governance, institutions and capacity building.
“We need to share experience, learn and accompany each other in this development process. These shall create a collective strength of ASEAN, and so each nation can harness the strength, thereby contributing to the strength of the region,” he added.
Earlier, Chinh joined other ASEAN leaders at the opening ceremony of the Summit by Malaysian Prime Minister and ASEAN Chair 2025 Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Held under Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship, themed “Inclusivity and Sustainability”, the high-level regional meeting gathered more than 3,000 delegates, including prominent world leaders from over 30 countries and organisations and their delegations.
