CEBU (Philippines), May 8 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will request Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan to write and provide a comprehensive explanation regarding the Federal Government's allocation for the State of Pahang.

Media reports today stated that the Tengku Mahkota of Pahang, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, called for Federal Government intervention in Pahang's revenue matters, including the approval of river sand exports.

“I respect the Tengku Mahkota. However, the Tengku Mahkota should also understand the macro (economy), because the allocation for the State of Pahang is large, not small.

“While criticisms can be made, I think it is reasonable to first listen to what the macroeconomy is, the current economic pressures, and the leakages occurring,” he said when asked to comment on Tengku Hassanal’s remarks after attending the 48th ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings here today.

He added that the country is currently dealing with many challenges.

“Therefore, as citizens, we respect (the views) and we will examine them thoroughly,” he said.
